At a community forum I heard the architect say there will be a new and permanent stop light at Washington and Glenview, but this information has not appeared in the press and no one seems to be talking about it. If they would only move the Amtrak trains to the Glen, that would help a little with the bad backups on Glenview Road...

I think that a new stoplight at Glenview and Washington is an idea from the "Downtown Redevelopment Group" associated with the Village government. I don't know whether a stoplight there would make the area safer for pedestrians or just backup more traffic through that area.
The entire area of Glenview/Harlem and the train tracks is not pedestrian friendly as it is presently configured. Street is too wide speed limit is too high.
If I visit the library and then wish to shop at one of the places on Glenview between Harlem and Waukegan I don't walk it, I get in my car and drive, sometimes parking again in the lot at Church and Dewes.
